This is my entry for Hugh’s Weekly Photo Challenge – week 23 – ‘Season’
Tomatoes are usually in season in Italy between June and September.
Some of the dishes you can make are:
Pasta al sugo (pasta with tomato sauce)
Pizza margherita (pizza, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and a few basil leaves)
Bruschetta al pomodoro (crusty, toasted bread topped with tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, garlic and basil leaves)
And the list could go on forever……
Pasta with a tomato sauce is my favourite dish, Jane. Homemade tomato pasta sauce is just wonderful, especially when some fresh Basil from the garden is added.
I hope you get a good crop of tomatoes this summer.

One of my favourites is ‘Penne all’arrabbiata’ (‘angry’ pasta). You add some chilli peppers to the tomatoes and Italian pecorino cheese.
